چکیده
Abstract The ultrafast concentration of electromagnetic energy in nanoscale volumes is one the key features optical nanoantennas illuminated at their surface plasmon resonances. Here, we drive insulator to metal phase transition vanadium dioxide (VO 2 ) using a laser-induced pumping effect obtained by positioning single gold nanoantenna proximity VO thermochromic material. We explore how geometry affects size and permittivity nanometer-scale regions featuring under different conditions. results reveal that higher for longitudinal or transversal localized depending on antenna length. This characterization paramount importance since are building blocks many plasmonic nanosystems. Finally, demonstrate picosecond dynamics characterizing this system, useful realization fast nano-switches. Our work shows it possible miniaturize hybrid plasmonic-VO system down single-antenna level, still maintaining controllable behavior, dynamics, its thermal response.

Optical experiments were conducted on a series of organic linear chain conductors with different values of the interchain single-electron transfer integral tb, which quantifies the degree of anisotropy. Electron-electron interactions together with Umklapp scattering resulted in a correlation gap and an insulating state for small tb. An insulator-to-metal transition was observed when tb exceeded...

State-of-the-art copper interconnects suffer from increasing spatial power dissipation due to chip downscaling and RC delays reducing operation bandwidth. Wide bandwidth, minimized Ohmic loss, deep sub-wavelength confinement and high integration density are key features that make metal-insulator-metal waveguides (MIM) utilizing plasmonic modes attractive for applications in on-chip optical sign...
متن کاملA size-dependent nanoscale metal-insulator transition in random materials.
Insulators and conductors with periodic structures can be readily distinguished, because they have different band structures, but the differences between insulators and conductors with random structures are more subtle. In 1958, Anderson provided a straightforward criterion for distinguishing between random insulators and conductors, based on the 'diffusion' distance ζ for electrons at 0 K (ref...
